Few pieces are as special to make as those for whom you adore. We had the great honour of making my brother and his wife’s wedding rings. Never has crafting a piece been more joyful or more pressure ridden (you see, he and I share a love of impeccable craftmanship and he’s got a well trained eye!).
They chose to keep things relatively simple with a Flat Band for him and a 5 Diamond Castle-cut Band (the claws are cut into the metal itself like, you guessed it, a turret) for her. His love of stories and connections was made manifest with the addition of a matching single diamond on the inside of his ring.
Visa situations being what they were none of our family were able to attend so they did a small ceremony on the top of a very misty mountain in Ashville, North Carolina (typical of those two wonderful lunatics) with just my gorgeous niece and the bride’s sister as witnesses.
My brother and I are really close so not being able to share in this momentous occasion was really tough but having sent the rings over I felt like at least a little part of me was able to be there, holding the space with them.
